Definition
DPIIT is the central government department that recognises startups under the Startup India programme. A DPIIT-recognised startup gets a certificate of recognition that can be used in public procurement — commonly for EMD exemption and, where the bid allows, relaxation of prior turnover and experience criteria. Quality and technical specifications are not relaxed.
